PfCF Mission

WHO WE ARE: 

Partners for Children & Families (PfCF) is the Smart Start partnership in Moore County.  We fund programs and services that benefit Moore County children birth to five and their families.

 

OUR VISION:

We envision Moore County as a community actively engaged in the development of children.

 

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is to unite the community to effectively support and empower families; prepare children to succeed in school and encourage lifelong learning; thereby contributing to the economic vitality of Moore County.

 

SMART START:

Smart Start is North Carolina's nationally recognized and award-winning early childhood initiative designed to ensure that young children enter school healthy and ready to succeed.

Strengthening the Family Unit

Encouraging Early Literacy 

Distribution of age-appropriate books as well as instruction in literacy activities for preschool children.

Teens As Parents Program 

Support services for new and expectant parents who are students of Moore County Schools.

Fortifying Health Services for Young Children

Newborn Home Visitation Program

Education, resources, and support for families of newborn infants provided by a registered pediatric nursing staff.

Assuring Better Child Health and Development

Training for physicians and staff on integrating developmental screenings and referral into well-child visits.

Helping Families Pay for Child Care

Child Care Scholarship Program

Child care scholarships for parents who are college students; preference given for those studying Early Childhood Curriculum.

Child care scholarships for parents enrolled in Family Literacy classes.

Child Care Subsidy at DSS

Assists working parents in paying for child care.

High-quality pre-kindergarten for at-risk four year olds.

Consumer Education / Parent Referrals

Provides information on local child care options and details on how to choose a quality child care program.

Health and safety assistance to child care providers.

Child Care Food Program (C.A.C.F.P.)

Provides reimbursement to qualified family child care home providers for nutritious meals and snacks served to participating children in their care.
